When you search for something using Google, whether it be anything from a vacation package to a daycare provider, odds are you have seen an advertisement at the top of the search page. This isn't just luck. The advertisements that you see at the top of your page are all due to research, time, and money. Lots of money. So the next time you click on a Google Ad, know that your search has been heavily analyzed to make your search experience timely and accurate.
When a marketer sets up an advertisement, they enter in keywords (AdWords) that relate to the link they are trying to promote. When a search engine user searches for product, Google analyzes their search and analyzes the advertisements and AdWords that are in its system. Other marketers may have set up a similar AdWord, and thus, Google analyzes their budgets and one marketer will outbid the other, and "win" the spot in the search. To win though, not only is the budget analyzed, but the quality of the page that the ad is linked to is analyzed as well. The quality of the page that the ad is linked to takes into consideration the relevance to the search. A higher bid may seem to win an AdWord, but the overall relevance to a search will ultimately help "win" the spot for advertising.
Google AdWords have a huge impact on how users search for products and how they end up at their final destination online. We will explore more about Google AdWords over the next few weeks and learn how they truly impact a search and business success.
