Reviewing Performance

The best way to starting reviewing your performance on Google Analytics is by taking your review process step by step.  As Google Analytics can be very overwhelming, start by only learning one piece of analytics at a time.  As you become familiar with each way of filtering and analyzing the information, you can start combining filters to review more complicated data sets.  Of course, the more data you have, the better these analyses will turn out.  It might be even be more beneficial for you to do small individual reviews of multiple filters on the data because you don't have a lot of data.

An important piece of data is to look at your bounce rate.  Bounce rate refers to people that enter your website and then immediately leave.  Can you figure out why people are "bouncing out" of your website?  What can you do to improve that page, as well as your SEO keywords to make sure your page is coming up in relevant searches?  Also, where are people visiting from?  It is a great idea to look at your location data to see where you are the most popular at!  When you know where your visitors are coming from, can you make recommendations to the site owners on how to cater to that the region or country? Finally, take a look at your trends.  The longer your site has been around, the better you will be able to see trends, and perhaps even forecast them! Have you been consistent in promoting the site?  Do you see any correlations between your Google Keyword Advertising and your trends?  It is always important to consider other methods of site improvement when you are tracking analytics.
