Artificial Intelligence is on the rise. It is more important now than ever to be prepared to explain why you are valuable to your company. What sets your skill set apart from a machine that could probably do it for you?
Many industries are becoming automated. As I sit here typing this, I am drinking tea out of a Wawa cup. Wawa just might be my favorite little convenience store on the East Coast. I love going to their locations and ordering because it is always a painless and quick process. Why? I place my orders through a machine. Anything I could want in a sandwich, coffee, or smoothie has been thought of and given as an option to select. There is even a "notes" section if I want to add anything else. While I still have to pay at a cash register, I see this being phased out shortly. For Wawa, that was probably some high schooler's job that got phased out. But what about big industry jobs? What about the students that are now just graduating from college and are looking for a job? While I think almost any industry could see automation, I would like to focus on digital marketing.
With digital marketing being a relatively new field, search engine optimization is even newer. Companies are learning how to use Google Analytics, how to pay for keywords, and are also competing with ever tightening security on search history tracking. I think it is more important now than it every may have been to keep digital marketers employed. While you can software that will analyze your data that has been collected, you still need to employ marketers that will know how to filter the data and what to look for in the data that is analyzed. While a lot of digital marketing can be automated, with such cutting edge advances, human intervention is still needed in case any data analysis goes wrong or stops for unknown reasons. A great example of this is when site visits drop off due to Google Ads not running. You might not know why your site isn't getting views until you go in and analyze all of your data and see that a Google Ad didn't run because certain keywords didn't "win."
Only time will tell when your job will become automated. It is extremely important to stay on top of new trends and up-to-date with the latest technical advances. I invite you to see how automated your job will become here.
