Artificial Intelligence Takeover

I recently had a chance to read the first chapter of a new book by Todd Kelsey about Artificial Intelligence.  In this first chapter, he sets up the implications that Artificial Intelligence has on our future: adapt or die.  Well, maybe not that dramatic, but if you don't at least take Artificial Intelligence into consideration when planning your future, you might not have a future.

Kelsey gives us three options: adapt, adopt, adept.  If we adapt, we only acknowledge that Artificial Intelligence is real, but we really do nothing to change our future course.  If we adopt, which is better than adapting, we become the ones who manage Artificial Intelligence.  However, how secure of a future is that?  When will managing Artificial Intelligence itself become automated?  The best option that Kelsey gives us is to adept.  This means becoming involved with the building of Artificial Intelligence.  If you have control over how to create the cutting edge Artificial Intelligence that everyone will be clamoring over, you might end up with the safest job out of any industry.  Right now, I'm probably in the adopt stage.  I know that AI is very important, but I just don't find myself learning coding right now, though I did practice it a bit in a high school class several years ago.  After college, and I have better financial footing, I think that I would like to spend some money on learning how to code, specializing in Artificial Intelligence!

By extreme oversimplification, everything could become automated at some point, and maybe at that point, we give up and become part of the matrix.  Until then, I look forward to what will probably be a fantastic and insightful read about our future with Artificial Intelligence!
