Dashboards

When starting out, dashboards can be overwhelming to make.  The seemingly unlimited amount of options of things to track can seem absurd.  Where to start?  Think of the most important things to you when considering your search engine optimization, adwords, and personal preferences.  Still lost?  That's fine. So was I.  Then, I discovered you can download dashboards.  All you have to search for in google is "google analytics dashboards."  It might take you a while to browse what looks good, but it is a strong start.

The dashboard that I downloaded (but is really actually a shareable template) tracks 10 different metrics.  This dashboard was called "The Perfect Site Performance" dashboard, meaning I was going to track metrics that would inform me how visitors are using the site.  From there, I would interpret the data and then either go and make changes to my website or even my adwords that I am using.  Using these templates helps you to learn how to track basic data and become comfortable with this set-up.  It's a great idea to use these templates if you are intimidated by starting from scratch!
